According to the botanic-geographical situation, the vegetation divides into the two zones - coniferous and coniferous-broad-leafed (mixed) forest zone.
The main characteristic of the coniferous forests zone is the domination of coniferous breeds, larch and spruce. The bogs and meadows are also widespread along the river valleys and plains between the mountains. There are well-developed thickets of the pinus pumila and mountain tundra at the tops of the mountains.
The southern border of the coniferous zone passes along the left side of the Amur river about 50 degrees of northern latitude, crosses the Amur river valley near the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, whence it abruptly turns on the south lengthways of the Sikhote-Aline mountain range. Here the larch and conifer-spruce forests are prevailing. The small areas are occupied by the Siberian and Korean spruce.
From the Komsomolsk-on-Amur and further upwards the Amur valley appear, gradually extending and enriching new breeds of coniferous-broad-leafed forests.
